Is that Really You God ? Can I Trust You ?

ree

There are moments in life when we find ourselves standing at a crossroads.  Uncertainty, anxiety, fear, a question of trust, makes it difficult to choose.  Which path do I take and how do I know God will be with me ?  We might hear a voice—whispering, guiding us—but we hesitate. Is that really You, God? Can I trust You to lead me through this? The question lingers as we wrestle with our fears and anxieties. But as Jesus reminds us in John 10:27-28, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." In those times of doubt, God is never distant; He speaks to us, and if we listen closely, we can hear His loving guidance. He promises eternal life and a hand that will never let go. No matter how daunting the journey may seem, His grasp is firm, and He will never allow us to be lost.

In "Hearing God " by Peter Lord, he emphasizes that knowing and trusting God's voice is foundational to a personal relationship with Him. He says that knowing God's character gives us clarity, confidence, and discernment in hearing His voice and he suggests that we can know God's character by:

  • Studying Scripture, especially the life of Jesus

  • Reflecting on God's past faithfulness

  • Spending time with Him in prayer and worship

  • Rejecting false ideas about God that contradict His Word

The key to moving forward in trust is surrendering our own understanding, something that can be incredibly hard to do. Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." When we let go of the need to control every detail and place our faith in Him, the path becomes clearer. Trusting God isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about believing that He knows the way, even when we don’t. It’s about acknowledging that His wisdom far exceeds our own and that He will guide us through the uncertainty, leading us toward the life He has promised. Can we trust Him? Absolutely.

So, when you find yourself at a crossroad in Life, remember: God doesn't simply point the way; He has gone before us, walks with us, guiding each step with His love and wisdom. His promises are sure, and His love is steadfast.
